After two crowdfunding efforts and nearly five years of work, photographer Carl Johnson has published his book “Where Water is Gold,” which focuses on the wildlife and people of Bristol Bay. The book is available from retailers now.

Young poets prepare for Dillingham slam

A dozen Dillingham residents read poetry at the event Friday. Of the four who competed in the "slam," Sadie Sands and Marion McArthur were judged as the two winning poets by an enthusiastic crowd.

Unalakleet charity auction unifies community in low times

An auction of handmade goods raised nearly $20,000 in Unalakleet over the holiday weekend; the proceeds will go back to the community for those in need.

Naknek celebrates soft opening of new museum

Fishtival 2015 rocks out while fish roll in

Festival organizers raised double the funds to bring more art and music to this year's 4-day festival. 

This weekend’s Fishtival in Naknek and King Salmon was attended by perhaps fewer fishermen than usual, but still drew enthusiastic crowds of locals and visitors. Especially popular were daily performances as part of the Bear Grass Music Festival. KDLG’s Hannah Colton reports festival planners raised twice as much money as last year for a full four days of entertainment.
