Two struck, one killed, in accident Saturday in Naknek

Zachary Krom, 25, of Anchorage, was killed, and Joshua Fullmer, 34, from Boise, Idaho, injured after being struck by taxi early Saturday.

KDLG: One man was killed and one medevaced with injuries in Naknek early Saturday morning after they were struck by a taxi at mile 3 on the Alaska Peninsula Highway.

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Zachary Krom, 25, from Anchorage was pronounced dead at the scene. Krom fished aboard the vessel Melody this season. Joshua Fullmer, age 34, from Boise, Idaho, was medevaced to Anchorage and is in stable condition with what is believed to be a broken pelvis.  

The driver of the Redline Taxi involved was David Stichler, 28, of King Salmon. Stichler was on-duty but did not have a passenger. Borough police say he was cooperative after the accident and provided a blood sample to test for alcohol.

Police believe the two men who were struck had been drinking, but that Stichler had not been. 

An officer described a scenario where the two men were wearing dark clothing along the roadside on a rainy dark morning. 

No charges have been filed against the driver David Stichler.
