Togiak man threatened to shoot VPO, say troopers

Anthony Forbes, 19, arrested by Dillingham-based troopers after assaults, threats against officer in Togiak.

State troopers responded to Togiak Sunday morning after taking a report that an intoxicated man had threatened to shoot a village police officer, according to a press release.

The VPO had responded to an overnight call that Anthony Forbes, age 19, had assaulted two men.   Troopers did not name the VPO, but said that when she tried to take Forbes into custody, he pushed her and threatened to shoot her.

Forbes then fled the scene. The VPO sought cover after hearing several gunshots from the residence.

Alaska state and wildlife troopers responded later Sunday morning, and after what they say was a several hour search, located Forbes and placed him under arrest.

Troopers did not specify the charges against Forbes. He is expected to be arraigned Monday morning.
