Suspect arraigned in Barrow murder

Troopers say Ronald Fischer shot Brian Sullivan in the face with a shotgun at a Barrow woman's home Monday night.

Ronald Fischer, 47, "sobbed" in a Barrow court room Wednesday morning as he was being arraigned on a first degree murder charge. That's according to Alaska Dispatch's Jerzy Shedlock reporting.

Fischer is charged with killing Brian Sullivan, 48, an assistant district attorney for the state in Barrow.

The investigation suggests that Fischer went to the home of a woman that Sullivan had been dating "recently," and whom Fischer had several court orders barring him from having contact with.

Fischer entered the woman’s home and shot Sullivan with a shotgun, killing him. The woman escaped and fled to the police department, according to the Alaska Dispatch.

If convicted, Fischer faces up to 99 years in jail. He's being held on $500,000 bail.
