"Round-Up" of Law Enforcement Activity Over Festival Weekend

Drinking to blame for most criminal activity during what police say was a busy weekend in Dillingham.

DILLINGHAM:  During Beaver Round-Up week, Dillingham Police responded to a total of 126 calls for service, made nine arrests, issued 16 citations, and took one person into Title 47 Protective Custody. Many of the calls were alcohol-related.

Descriptions of some of the arrests are listed below.

-- At 8:55 a.m. on 2-27-14 (Thursday), DPD took a report that a minor was under the influence of alcohol at Dillingham High School. A 16-year-old was cited for underage drinking, and 19-year-old Quentin Martin was cited for underage drinking and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

-- At 2:30 a.m. on 2-28-14 (Friday), DPD responded to a disturbance at Kanakanak Hospital, where they found that an 18-year-old female had bitten her sister several times. She was arrested for domestic violence assault and underage drinking.

-- At 11:40 p.m. on 2-28-14 (Friday), police officers conducted a routine bar check at the Sea Inn. When they left the bar, they found Herman Nelson, 63, urinating on their patrol car in front of a crowd of people. Nelson was arrested for indecent exposure. He pled guilty at arraignment and was sentenced to one day in jail and a $100 fine.

-- At 1:30 a.m. on 3-1-14 (Saturday), DPD saw two men running from the back of the Bristol Inn. A woman then called police and reported she had heard two men outside her open hotel window talking about entering. Nathan Wassillie and Kameron Nunn, both 22, were found hiding in a nearby car and arrested. Both pled guilty to criminal trespass at arraignment and were sentenced to ten days in jail.

-- At 6:10 p.m. on 3-1-14 (Saturday), police were notified of a fight in progress at the Forestview Apartments. Kermit Ramey, 19, fought with a responding police officer, causing injury to the officer's hand and damage to the patrol car door. He was booked on charges of assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, underage drinking, and felony criminal mischief.

-- At 2:30 a.m. on 3-2-14 (Sunday), police arrested Thomas Weedman, 48, at the Muklung Apartments on charges of domestic violence assault.

-- At 3:27 a.m. on 3-2-14 (Sunday), a woman called police to report that an unknown intoxicated man clad only in his underwear had just stumbled into her apartment and passed out on the floor. Wassily Kyakwok, 25, was arrested for criminal trespass. Five hours later on Sunday morning, Kyakwok set about tearing up his holding cell, ripping several pieces of plastic laminate from the walls. Police then added a felony criminal mischief charge to his arrest.
