Red Flag Warning for Bristol Bay

The National Weather Service is warning that critical fire weather conditions exist across much of the Bristol Bay region. A “Red Flag Warning” is in effect until 10 o’clock tonight for low humidity for interior portions of Bristol Bay. Temperatures are expected to possibly hit the 70’s today and there is no rain in the forecast until early next week. The Alaska Division of Forestry is discouraging any open burning until the weather conditions change. The dry weather has resulted in local burn bans instituted by the cities of Dillingham and Aleknagik. The Bristol Bay Borough has also put in place a burn ban until further notice.
