Pair of DUI's require medevacs Friday in Manokotak

Alice Moxie, 26, and Dick Itulmulria, 50, both flown to Dillingham for medical care after accidents caused by drinking and driving, say troopers.

KDLG: State troopers responded to two separate drinking and driving accidents in Manokotak Friday, each requiring medevac of injured victims.

Around 2:00 p.m. it was reported that an SUV had rolled over on Airport Road, and a female was trapped underneath. State troopers say community volunteers quickly responded and were able to lift the vehicle and free 26-year-old Alice Moxie, who was injured. Troopers say she was the driver, and was highly intoxicated and very uncooperative with medical staff and law enforcement. She was eventually medevaced to Dillingham for further care. A four-year-old also in the rolled SUV sustained minor injuries. Troopers say they’re forwarding charges of DUI, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and third degree assault to the district attorney.

Two hours later, a 50-year-old man drove an ATV into a ditch and was ejected. Troopers say Dick Itulmulria had been drinking before the accident, but was also driving too fast. He suffered injuries to his head and neck was medevaced to Dillingham. At the scene of the accident, troopers recovered Itulmulria’s backpack, which contained several bottles of hard alcohol. They say he was cooperative, and admitted to drinking and driving. He faces additional charges of reckless driving and possessing alcohol in the dry village.
