Man swims Nushagak, briefly, attempting to flee arrest

KDLG: A man in Ekwok Friday attempted to avoid arrest by swimming in the Nushagak River, an effort that troopers say didn’t last long.

Apparently when he saw law enforcement approaching Fred Hurley III, 24, ran to the river, first tried to take a boat to get away, and in a last ditch effort jumped into the river.

He voluntarily came out of the frigid water not long after, according to troopers.

Hurley was arrested on two outstanding warrants involving charges of first degree burglary and first degree vehicle theft.
