Local Boundary Comission Hears public testimony Monday on Manokotak annexation petition

Avery Lill/ KDLG

Dillingham and Monokotak have both proposed petitions to annex all or a portion of the Nushagak fishing district. The Local Boundary Commission is holding hearings in these cities this week.

The Local Boundary Commission is in Bristol Bay this week to hear public testimony about two competing annexation petitions. At the hearing in Manokotak on Monday, the testimony was overwhelmingly in favor of the petition.

The LBC is hearing public testimony in Dillingham on Tuesday and Wednesday. These hearings are the final step in the petition process before the LBC makes its final decision, which it is expected to do Thursday at a meeting scheduled in Anchorage.
