Dillingham prosecutor Oates resigning amidst likely closure of local DA office

KDLG: Just a week after the Department of Law’s criminal divisionannounced it intends to close the Dillingham District Attorney’s office next summer, the lone prosecutor left in the office announced she is resigning.

Beth Oates, who has been in the office for about a year and a half, and has been the only prosecutor in Bristol Bay since last summer, has given the Department of Law her two weeks’ notice.

Clint Campion, the Anchorage District Attorney who oversees prosecutions in the third judicial district, including Bristol Bay, declined to speak on personnel matters, but said the office is working on “short and long term plans” to cover Dillingham court cases.

Oates' last day on the job is January 4.
