Woman pleas in oxycodone drug case

KDLG:  Jennifer Williams, 26, of Togiak, was given one year to serve and three years of probation for supplying an oxycodone pill she and another women were caught smoking in a hospital bathroom in October 2014.

The case caught the attention of the public, as Williams was six months pregnant at the time and the woman she was smoking with, Dahlia Wassillie of Togiak, had just given birth; they were in the bathroom of the delivery room with the newborn nearby. According to police, a nurse noticed the smell and alerted authorities.

Williams was arrested and indicted on one felony drug charge for allegedly supplying that unprescribed oxy pill, and another charge for being in possession of 15 others.  She posted $1,500 bail and was released, but was picked up in January for violating release conditions and taken back into custody.

In return for a guilty plea, the state agreed to dismiss two charges, and reduce the most serious to attempted second degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. Williams pleaded guilty to that charge, a class B felony, Monday at the Dillingham court.

She was given a one year "shock time" jail sentence and three years of probation. Based on the agreement with the state, if Williams completes her probation, the conviction will be taken off her record, what's known as a suspended imposition of sentence, or SIS.

"I think I learned my lesson, and I'm not going to do it again," Williams told the court Monday.
