The west side wets some nets Sunday night

KDLG

A push of kings in the Nushagak River and sockeye in the Wood River prompted a Nushagak District set net opener Sunday evening.

On Sunday, fishermen in Egegik caught about 43,000 sockeye, and the Nushgak District landed some 35,000 reds with the first set net opener of the season Sunday night.

KDLG News headed down along the Coffee Point set net line Sunday evening just after the nets went out, to check in on the fishing. As KDLG’s Molly Dischner reports, the enthusiasm was high but the action at Coffee Point was a little slow.

Baywide, about 270,000 reds have been counted harvested through Sunday. The Port Moller Test Fishery reported Sunday’s catch was down a bit from Saturday’s, with a daily replacement index of 18. Check out our daily Bristol Bay Fisheries Report the day's news and numbers.
