WAANT busts heroin, meth smuggler bound for Bristol Bay

Tawnie Ann Myers, 27, of Naknek was arrested by Alaska State Troopers when they found meth and heroin in her bags on her way back to the Bristol Bay Borough.

Tawnie Ann Myers was arrested in Anchorage after Alaska State Troopers received a tip that she smuggled drugs from Anchorage into the Bristol Bay area several times before.  After booking a return flight at the airport to Naknek, AST noticed she was acting nervous and arrested her on a misdemeanor warrant.  An AST canine was then brought to the scene and identified Myer’s bags which, when searched, contained 15.01 grams of heroin, 1-2 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

Myers is facing one count of second degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.
