VPSO siezes alcohol in Togiak, arrests Aleknagik man

An Aleknagik man was arrested last Friday for smuggling alcohol into Togiak.

The VPSO met 31 year old Jeremiah Kyakwok at the airstrip in Togiak after receiving a tip that he was bringing alcohol into the village.

After obtaining a search warrant, the VPSO found 11 containers of whiskey in a box Kyakwok was carrying with him. According to state troopers, Kyakwok has two prior convictions for importation of alcohol which makes this new charge a felony. He was transported to Dillingham for holding. Bail was set at $500.
