Witnesses reported the erratic driving of both Melody Cox, 35, and Moses Chythlook, 29, in separate incidents near Aleknagik.
KDLG: Law enforcement in Dillingham arrested two repeat offenders for charges of driving under the influence of alcohol Friday. Both drivers were reported to authorities by witnesses, and both near Aleknagik.
One witness reported to police he saw Moses Chythlook, 29, driving a four wheeler pull out in front of him near Twin Lakes on Lake Road, swerve along the road, then crash into a ditch near Foxville Road. The witness took the ATV's keys and Chythlook to the south shore landing then called troopers. Chythlook left the scene but a state trooper found him down the road.
According to the report, Chythlook appeared heavily intoxicated and admitted to having been driving his four wheeler. He refused a chemical test when he was booked at the Dillingham jail. Based on his past multiple DUI convictions, Chythlook was charged with two felonies, one for DUI and the other for refusal to a chemical test.
Later Friday night an anonymous caller reported that a woman had nearly hit someone at the south shore landing, and left Aleknagik with three children in the car heading back home to Dillingham. Police found Melody Cox, 25, on Waskey Road. Police say she appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests and was booked for DUI. Cox has prior drinking and driving convictions. She was also charged with three counts of child endangerment.
Both defendants were ordered held on $1500 bail and will need a third party custodian in order to be released.
