The Racks Restaurant now open for lunch

Racks Restaurant

The new restaurant on Nina Way in Dillingham has been a long time in the making.

The Racks restaurant in Dillingham opened its doors Monday. Owner Paul Kropoff has been trying to open for over a decade now.

Ron Compton, the new chef, recently moved from Kenai.

"Paul Kropoff called me and asked if I was interested in getting this place finally open for him."

Chef Compton says it’s been a stressful month getting the business up and going. He’s satisfied with opening day but there is always room to do better.

"I expected with all the excitement and all the buzz that the Racks was finally gonna be open that we'd be a little busier than we actually are... but I have a feeling some people had some reservations about whether or not we were actually going to be open."

Currently, The Racks is only open for lunch, but Compton is hoping to be serving dinner by the end of the month. They're also offering a Mother's Day brunch on Sunday, May 10.
