Thursday morning’s power outage in downtown Dillingham has resulted in a closure of the Public Library for the time being.
The electrical problems appear to have affected the library’s computer system.
"Apparently the power outage did some damage to the drive in our server," says librarian Sonja Marx, "and this drive is the one that connects us with the internet and is allowing us to check materials in and out."
With the server down, Marx says there is no way to keep records of materials checked out or returned. The damaged server was sent to Anchorage for repair, and the Library says it will remain closed until the computer system is back up and running.
