New Stuyahok man escaped custody Thursday

Moxie Andrew III, 24, escaped from a holding cell in New Stuyahok on Thursday. UPDATE: According to a Feb. 22, 2018 Alaska State Trooper press release, Andrew turned himself in to law enforcement on Feb. 17. He was transported to Dillingham jail Feb. 18 for remand.

KDLG: A New Stuyahok man escaped from a holding cell in New Stuyahok on Thursday, according to Alaska State Troopers.

24-year-old Moxie Andrew III was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly sent a woman in New Stuyahok threatening messages. Troopers say that further investigation revealed that Andrew had allegedly sexually and physically assaulted the woman prior to sending her threatening messages. He was charged with assault, sexual assault and harassment.

On Thursday morning, troopers say Andrew broke out of his holding cell in the village. He fled, and neither troopers nor the New Stuyahok village public safety officer were immediately able to locate Andrew after searching the village.
