Investigation into infant death in Emmonak

KYUK, Bethel: State troopers are investigating the death of a one-year-old girl in the village of Emmonak.

A Village Public Safety Officer and health workers responded Saturday afternoon to a house after the girl’s father, a 31-year-old man, woke up on the couch and found the infant—who also had been sleeping on the couch—unresponsive.

Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the infant was pronounced dead at the clinic.

Troopers say alcohol was involved.  The infant was sent to the state medical examiners officer for an autopsy.
