House Finance taking input on state operating budget

Subcommittees have scrubbed the numbers and trimmed the budget, now House finance members are asking Alaskans to weigh in.

The House finance committee is taking public testimony this week on the state's operating budget. KDLG's Dave Bendinger has more:

The schedule for public testimony is as follows:

Monday, Feb. 29, 2016
4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Juneau

Tuesday, March 1
1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Homer, Kenai, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Mat-Su & Seward
3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Barrow, Dillingham & Fairbanks
6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – *Off Net sites

Wednesday, March 2
1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Anchorage
4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. – Sitka, Petersburg, Delta Junction, Unalaska, Glennallen & Tok
7 p.m. to 8 p.m. – *Off Net sites

Thursday, March 3
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Bethel, Cordova, Kotzebue, Nome, Valdez, Wrangell
4:15 to 6 p.m. – *Off Net sites

*Off Net sites are those communities without a Legislative Information Office, or LIO. Please only call during the listed times. Call 907-465-4648 before 5 p.m. to get the call-in number. LIOs are listedhere.

Public testimony will be limited to 2 minutes, expect long wait times. In the event you cannot stay on the line, submit your written testimony to lhscfin@akleg.gov, which will be forwarded to the Finance Committee. Alaskans planning to testify in person are encouraged to arrive at their local LIOs early to facilitate the sign-in process, or at least 15 minutes before the listed areas allotted time ends to ensure that public testimony doesn’t close early.
