Drunk men briefly 'missing' near Aleknagik trigger start of search, say troopers

KDLG: Alaska state troopers say they were called for a possible Search and Rescue early Wednesday morning on Lake Aleknagik. Two intoxicated men had gone into the lake and could not be located, according to a report called in to authorities.

While AST was enroute from Dillingham, the younger of the two, an unnamed 15-year-old, was found unharmed. Troopers said he will be charged with underage drinking.

The second, 28-year-old Wassily Kyakwok, was also found and arrested for a separate charge of criminal mischief for allegedly destroying a family member’s property, and for violating conditions of his release in another case by consuming alcohol. A criminal complaint alleges he damaged the family home's windbreak and rear windshield of a vehicle. His blood alcohol was sampled at .216 percent late that evening. Kyakwok has racked up a number of criminal mischief, trespassing, and disorderly conduct charges over the past two years.
