DPD seeking suspect in December airport burglaries

DILLINGHAM:  An arrest warrant has been issued for Antone Suskuk, 31, of Dillingham and Koliganek, for the December burglaries of three airline terminals at the Dillingham Airport.

Alaska Island Air, Tucker Aviation, and Northern Air Cargo were burglarized late on December 18 or early on December 19. Video surveillance captured some of the activity, showing a man using a crowbar to gain entry to buildings. Some cash was reported stolen, as well as three handguns.

A Dillingham woman called police later that afternoon to report the three handguns were discovered in her steam bath, which were recovered and returned to the owner.

Suskuk voluntarily came to the police station two days later, and during questioning, admitted to breaking into the airline terminals, according to police. An officer wrote that Suskuk said he had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol that night.

He was not arrested at the time. When DPD completed its investigation this week, however, an arrest warrant was issued on charges of burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and misconduct involving weapons.
