DPD reports three DUI arrests over the weekend

Dillingham police arrested three people for DUI between Friday and Saturday, at the tail end of what police say was a busier week than the recent usual.    KDLG’s Dave Bendinger has more:

KDLG:  Last Friday, Lucas Murphy, 25, had a blood alcohol level of .194 percent when police pulled him over for having a headlight out. Murphy has two prior convictions for DUI on his record, both from last year, so police charged Friday's alleged DUI as a felony.

Also on Friday police observed a running vehicle parked downtown by the water tower. When the same vehicle was observed later still idling in the same spot, police stopped to check it out. In the driver seat of the running vehicle was Jamie Liles, 25, who didn’t perform well on field sobriety tests. Police measured her blood alcohol at .219 percent, more than two and half times the legal limit to be behind the wheel.

On Saturday morning a report was called into police that a vehicle on Emperor Way had left the road and gone into a ditch. The witness watched the driver leave the vehicle and walk down the road, where police picked her up. The officer said Alicia Akelkok, 20, had a BAC of .190 percent. She was charged with DUI and underage drinking. Akelkok denied being the driver of the vehicle that had gone off the road, and gave police several names of others she said might’ve done it.
