The Department of Health is Waiving an Adminstrative Fee For a Flu Shot

The State of Alaska is waiving a fee for a flu shot in an effort to get more people immunized. Through December 28th the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services has recorded 242 cases of the flu in Alaska that were confirmed by laboratory testing. The State of Alaska has a supply of the flu vaccine that is being distributed through the Public Health Centers spread out across the state. On Tuesday the Department of Health confirmed that the Division of Public Health will continue to waive a $28-dollar administrative fee for a flu vaccination. That fee was charged even if the patient qualified for a free flu vaccination. The fee waiver is currently in effect through the end of March. The Department of Health notes that both the injectable and nasal spray version of the flu vaccine are available at the State’s public health centers, while supplies last.
