Coast Guard Rescues an Ailing Fisherman from a Vessel in the Bering Sea

The U.S. Coast Guard had to medevac a commercial fishermen Tuesday from a fishing vessel in the Bering Sea. The request for a medevac came from the crew of the 158-foot Aricia and a helicopter and aircrew were launched from Cold Bay, which is a forward operating location for the Coast Guard during the fishing season in the Bering Sea. The aircrew was able to safely hoist the fishermen from the Arica. He was apparently suffering from abdominal pain. The fishermen was taken back to Cold Bay where he received medical attention before being taken to Anchorage for further care.
