The city of Dillingham has finalized its agreements with local employees unions. Collective bargaining ended last week, with a one percent raise for both the public safety employees union and Local #71, which represents city employees.
“It’s just the percentage that we could live with within the budget," said city manager Rose Loerda.
The city will run a deficit of nearly half a million dollars next year. The collective bargaining agreements are good for the next three years.
Negotiations with the Dillingham Education Association continue. The teacher’s union’s initial offer sought a three percent pay raise. The district is seeking to freeze the pay schedule for three years, citing a budget gap of $450,000.
