Breaking Better: a tale of recovery, redemption in Dillingham

This interview originally aired on July 17 on KDLG's Bristol Bay and Beyond.

KDLG:  Two years ago, Keli Dumas of Dillingham got busted at the Dillingham Post Office picking up a package that contained heroin and meth she was intending to use and to sell.  That was at the height of what had become a very active effort on the part of law enforcement to crack down on drug trafficking into Bristol Bay.

It was the first bust of meth being brought into town, and at the timewe headlined our article with a reference to the show Breaking Bad. Dumas says her life at the time was a mess; the drugs were ruining everything important to her.

But now, two years later, with her jail time served, Keli has turned her life around 180 degrees. She sat down with me recently to talk about her recovery and readjusting to life in town after the bust.
