Aleknagik man charged with DUI after crashing through guardrail

KDLG

An Aleknagik man is being charged with drunk driving after a single-vehicle crash that totaled a car at the Airport Y in Dillingham.

Dillingham Police responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. A witness told officers the vehicle had been driving all over the road before it went through the guard rail and down into the creek area.

Officers approached to find the vehicle still running with the doors locked and the man inside not moving. They busted the driver side window to gain entry and turned off the vehicle.

Police say the 43-year-old driver from Aleknagik admitted to drinking and driving. He was safely removed and transported to Kanakanak Hospital and will be charged with Driving Under the Influence.
