Aleknagik man arrested for attempted abuse of a minor

DILLINGHAM:  Darren Coolidge, 42, was arrested Sunday by state troopers on a charge of attempted sexual abuse of a minor, a class C felony.

According to the trooper's investigation, Coolidge was intoxicated Friday night and began touching a 12-year-old girl staying the night at his home in Aleknagik. When she woke up to find Coolidge touching her, the victim said she began trying to kick him away and wake up others, and he left the room.

Coolidge was confronted Sunday by two troopers and the victim's mother, and claimed he was too drunk to remember what had happened.

"I do not remember going into the bedroom, I just remember going out," he said, according to the trooper affidavit.

"I am not saying I didn't do it, all I know is I came out of the room. But you know little kids do not lie about stuff like that."

Coolidge was booked Sunday and arraigned Monday, and was ordered held on $5000 bail.
