Ticker Software

Description:

RDF-Ticker is a newsticker for Windows computers that fetches news from RDF/RSS-feeds (like KDLG's) and displays on a ticker-bar.

It comes pre-configured to display a number of news sources, and headlines from KDLG and other sources can also be easily added. It will even automatically generate a custom newspaper of your favorite news sources!

RDF-Ticker is "share-ware" software, available for free on an unlimited trial basis.

Instructions:

  1. Download the RDF-Ticker installer
  2. Double-click on the RDF-Ticker installer
  3. After installation, start the RDF-Ticker program
  4. Click on the ticker bar's menu button:
  5. Select "Channels and Preferences"
  6. Under "Subscribed Channels", click "New..."
  7. Type a name (maybe, "KDLG Headlines"?)
  8. Copy this address into the "News-URL" field:
    http://kdlg.org//news/newslinks.php
  9. Click "OK", then "OK" again and you're done!

Awasu

Description:
Awasu is a free Windows news-reader that runs in the background on your computer and monitors news sites for you. When it sees that something new has appeared, it will let you know.

Instructions:

  1. Download the Awasu installer from awasu.com.
  2. After installation, start Awasu.
  3. Click on "Add KDLG News to Awasu" at the top of this page and follow the instructions that display next

AmphetaDesk

Description:
AmphetaDesk is a free, cross platform, open-sourced, syndicated news reader - it downloads the latest news headlines that interest you and displays them in a quick and easy to use (and customizable!) webpage.

Instructions:

  1. Download AmphetaDesk.
  2. Read the AmphetaDesk installation instructions
    (don't worry, it's really not too painful)
  3. After installation, start AmphetaDesk.
  4. Click on "Add KDLG News to AmphetaDesk" at the top of this page and follow the instructions that display next
